Birthday gift for Mum

I have had this in a bag in my stash cupboard for over a year! Today, I sewed the sleeves and added the buttons today. I used just over 2 balls of King Cole Splash in rose hues with 2 balls Teddy Avril in dark rust on 4mm needles. I made it in reverse stocking stitch instead of garter stitch as the pattern called for.

Knee Caps No. 209

This is my prototype from a tweaked pattern from the WWII collection. I have made these in aran yarns in grape 54g and black 49g on 5mm needles. They are 44cm in length. I am waiting for some clear shirring elastic to arrive to finish the cuffs.   I am hoping they help reduce my mum's osteo-arthritic pain which is exacerbated when it's cold.

Made another pair of these in hot pink angora on 3mm needles. I weaved shirring elastic to keep one in place. I put them on sometimes to keep off the chills after walking in the evening.

Birthday gift - hooded body warmer

I have made this for my niece, who will be 4 this month. I used 3 balls of Hayfield Bonus Chunky in navy and 1 in red on a 6mm hook. I based the sizing on this pattern. I did originally make sleeves, but found them too bulky which would make it uncomfortable to wear, so decided on sleeveless. I hope she likes it...

Ribbed stripe sweater

I based this loosely on Drops Design Sentinel. I used just under 200g of both Ice yarns wool twist in black and grey and grey and black on 4mm needles. I didn't know if it would work out okay and it has...I started this back in April and picked it back up this week to complete.

Things I found in the attic...

I found these in the attic a few weeks ago - I sent my son up there looking for a large bag of wool I thought I had up there. These have been in there since 1998.

I started the Victoriana table cloth in '94 before I found out I was pregnant - then started making baby clothes. I returned to it later on, spilt coffee on it, put it in a bag and forgot about it. It is currently over 4ft and I do not know where the graph is to complete it. The pattern was for a 6ft size - bigger table back then.

This is a square occasional table topper I made back in the 90s. I washed it with a piece of purple satin material I found up there and its turned lilac!

The knitted squares on this cushion cover are my first sample attempts at motif and fairisle in the early 80s. I made the crochet squares with the left overs of wool from the baby clothes I had made for my sister in 1983-84. My grandma used to send me parcels of good quality wool and I recognised most of the colours being babywear for my sister. :)
