Stripe scarf

I made this scarf over Christmas - it was the first thing I have made in 10 years, after finding my hook. The stitch is real simple it is a single crochet with a chain between, then next row you single crochet in chain space, then chain. I used up some old mohair mix yarn - the black and some recycled pastel boucle yarn on a 3.5 hook. I love it and have worn it loads. The hat was made with the left overs and looks like a beret - although that was not my intention!

Mohair tweed scarf

This scarf is made from mohair tweed. I made it from leftovers from a vest/waistcoat I made for my mom. I used a 4.00 hook and used a double treble stitch with 2 chains between. It took me about 2 hours to make!

I bought the yarn from ebay thinking it was pink - but it is more lilac than pink.

Boxes and scrunchie

Here are 2 crochet boxes and a crochet scrunchie. The box on the left is made out of Asda shopping bags - I found a cool page on the web showing how to make shopping bag yarn. It took about 30 bags. I used a 5.50mm hook and it took about 4 hours to make - as I had to keep chopping the bags for more yarn! My son has pinched it and stores his yugioh cards in it.
The box on the right is made out of plastic string. I made this years ago to store some tarot cards and I don't even know where the string came from!

The scrunchie took about 10 mins to make on a 3.oo hook it is just linked chains - simple!

Fluffy eyelash yarn scarf

Here is the fluffly eyelash yarn scarf I made last weekend. It took me 3 hours. I used 6 x 50g balls of Ice yarn light pink that I bought from ebay. I used a 5.50mm Tunisian hook and a double tunisian stitch on 28 stitches. The yarn looks fluffiest from the reverse of the fabric. I love it - it's my most favorite item yet and matches well with my current winter jacket.

Today's Tasks

We are mainly watching TV today and preparing for week ahead - relaxing and washing clothes etc. Kris is in his room on PS2 and will probably be up there most of the day and surface for re-fuel when hungry.

I finished sewing on sleeves to my coat/jacket yesterday and decided it needed a belt, so have started on that. Once complete, will photograph and post.

Have been off work for 2 weeks - had a throat infection, followed by resiratory infection, felt really ill - haven't had anything like this since 2000. I am going back to work tomorrow, but am not really looking forward to it as I don't feel 100% and the drive is daunting - 24 miles of motorway and duel carriageway, but needs must!

I have just completed a job application form for a business manager post in a high school which is 14 miles away and should be a better route - I am really fed up with all that time wasted travelling to and from work. I now need to go and post the form, the closing date is Tuesday so am cutting it fine. Fingers crossed from then!

Diamond Stitch Jacket

I saw this stitch on a scarf on the web and I really liked it .

So I decided on a scarf - but it quickly turned into the front of a jacket/cardigan and decided to make it up as I was going along. I don't think it turned out too badly. If I make another it will have a V-neck.

I used Pegasus dishcloth cotton - 650 grams altogether and a size 3.5 hook. It crocheted up quickly - I did a both fronts and sleeves in 4 evenings and the back and edging on a Sunday. My mum really likes it! I am going to dye it, but haven't decided whether purple or pink as yet and I have to get a hold of the dye.

Pet blanket

This is a blanket I made when my sis was a baby for her cot, she is now nearly 23 so it is that old! Hasn't dated much! My mum found it out a couple of week ago and we are now using it for Goldie's bed - she seems to love it.

Casual Hand Bag

I saw a bag in this style in Matalan, just before Christmas '05. It was a brown cotton, had big wooden beads on the straps and it cost more than I was prepared to pay. I thought I could make my own for a fraction of the cost and here it is ....

I used a size 3 hook and pink acrylic yarn, that I purchased to make a top, but the yarn was too rough to wear, so have made the bag, a crochet hook holder and scrunchie, and am planning to use the left overs to make a smaller purse. I made the strap too long so have ended up knotting it and I am not too sure if I like it now!

Slippers

It took about 3 hours to make these slippers. I wanted something to keep my tootsies warm while chilling on the sofa and I prefer slip on slippers. I followed a pattern but used different yarn and I haven't added any flowers. Any how, my son has decided that he likes them and keeps wearing them around the lounge.

I used a size 5.50 hook with 2 strands of chunky yarn. The soles are black - again using 2 strands of chunky yarn. I don't know the make of the yarn, as I purchased it with no label. If you want to see the originals click here.

What we are up to today

We are watching cartoons and I am working on finishing off my crochet coat - I need to sew the sleeves on. Later we are going to the Local superstore to complete the weekly shopping chore - which I don't like doing - people with trolley rage then having to hand over ££ for the priviledge - GREAT!

After that I am going to upload some of the pics I have taken of my crochet projects.
This is my dog goldie jogging up the lane
My cat Stumpy which had to have his tail amputated last summer. We are not sure whether he had it run over or was shut in something, anyhow, the operation went well and his fur grew back in about 6 weeks. He was also neutered at the same time - so he must have been really narked when he came around from the anaesthetic!

I took this pic with my motorolla V3 phone (My Christmas treat to myself!). I think the quality is quite good.
